My introduction to this breed was about 18 years ago. My sister and I were asked to take a couple male Bernese Mountain dogs that were 9 months old. They are beautiful dogs so we agreed. Little did we know that this breed is the most lovable gentle dogs we had ever known. Their temperament makes them the perfect family dog. With those two males, and subsequently a female named Holly, I fell in love with the breed. I had never seen such a lovable dog in my life. As the years went by, unfortunately Holly passed away. I began thinking about this breed once again. I wished I would have had a dog like this growing up. They are so attentive and quickly form a strong bond with their owners. I decided there must be other families, children explicitly, that would benefit from the love these dogs offer. So, I began the search for a breeding pair that would allow me the ability to place these gentle giants into loving homes where they can enrich the lives of other people as they have mine.

My search led me to an amazing male whom I named Mikey. He connected with my daughter Beth almost immediately even as a puppy. So, I named him Beth’s Saint Michael. He loved that girl with all his heart. Always so gentle and calm around her which is amazing since Beth has Down’s Syndrome. She tends to get intimidated easily by dogs. But once again, this breed didn’t let me down. I found a perfect little female named Maggie, and she was calm and gentle with Beth as well. She is no longer intimidated by large dogs. And, large dogs they are, Mikey was 130# and Maggie was around 100#. Seeing these two with Beth just warmed your heart. So, seeing the confidence these dogs have given Beth, I not only named Maggie, Beth’s Maggie Mae, but I named this kennel after Beth as well. She works along side of me with the dogs and especially the puppies. Now I am even more motivated to provide people with the best companion they could ever have.
